Why I made this
Even if you've dreamed of opening a boba shop or café, it's hard to picture what it would cost and how long it would take to pay off. Rent, wages, ingredient costs, customers that come and go with the weather, cooking too much or selling out: opening a shop comes with a lot of real decisions.
Boba Shop Diary lets you try those decisions out in a little pixel-art shop. Open a few times with different locations and prices, and compare how the numbers change. Boba is a drink people know across East and Southeast Asia, the USA, and the Spanish-speaking world, so you can play in cities in 10 countries and regions: Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, the USA, Spain, and Mexico.
About the game content
Startup costs, rent, wages, going rates, ingredient costs, foot traffic, and other numbers are simplified estimates for a game. Price differences between countries are only roughly reflected, and real prices and the conditions of any actual shop will differ. They also don't include your own salary or utilities. If you're planning a real shop or its finances, talk to a professional.
